USC Salkehatchie softball kicks off home schedule Saturday!

The USC Salkehatchie Indians softball team will kick-off their home schedule on Saturday Feb 11th against Patrick Henry CC starting at 1:00 pm. They will be playing a double-header with the second game starting at 3:00 pm or shortly after.

USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball drop 3-games over weekend to #8 Walters State

The USC Salkehatchie Indians played host to the #8 team in the nation (NJCAA) this weekend.

On Saturday, in game 1 the Indians fell behind early and would end up getting the 5-0 loss. Jon Reed of Walters State had a perfect game going into the top of the 7th (Per double-header rules a complete game is 7-innings) but he would walk the first batter. Reed still earned a no-hitter against the Indians. USC Salkehatchie's Brandon Stoots took the loss, he is 0-2 on the season.

In game 2 on Saturday, Adrian Rivero took the mound for the Indians. He was cruising through the first 5 1/3 innings, having not giving up a run. It was Walter States Marcus Davis that would break the tie with a shot over the right center field wall. It was a 2-run home run and the only runs of the game, Walters State would go on to win 2-0. USC Salkehatchie's starting pitcher Rivero is now 1-1 on the young season.

Game 3 on Sunday was a scheduled 9-inning game. Richard Carmichael started on the mound for the Indians and ran into trouble in the second and third innings giving up three runs. The Indians would get on the scoreboard for the first time in the series when Ryan Walker hit a home run over the left fence.

Walters State's Marcus Davis would add two more home runs, bringing his total to three for the weekend. Kendall Keeton added another home run in the game for Walters State.

Carmichael (0-2) would get the loss for the Indians, as they fell 11-2 to Walters State.

The Indians will be back in action next Saturday against USC Lancaster in Lancaster, SC and the two teams will meet again on Sunday in Allendale, SC. (Both days are scheduled double-headers)

Indians basketball falls in close one to Clinton Jr. College

The USC Salkehatchie Indians faced Clinton Jr. College on Saturday for the second time since Monday. The Indians were looking for the regular season sweep and it looked as though they would early on.

The Indians lead by as many of 12 points in the game but as time ran out, Clinton Jr. College would go on a 11-5 run and earn the victory 99-94.

"It all comes back to our defensive play, we have got to do a better job. In the last four games we have given up 83, 91, 87 and 99 points. It is great to score but you have to get back and play defense," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians are now 15-10 on the season and 5-3 in Region X.

USC Salkehatchie 94, Brunswick CC 87-

The USC Salkehatchie Indians came out and took the early lead and never looked back in the first half. Brunswick CC came within one point of tying the game but would come up short of taking the lead right before the half.

The Indians lead at the half 41-40.

"We have got to learn that teams aren't going to roll over for us, we are giving up too many points and it is something we have to correct. I am not happy as we walk to this locker room, let's see what we do in the second half," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

In the second half, the Indians held the lead until 9:10 in the half. Brunswick would take the lead 65-64 and extend it to four points with 8:45 left.

The Indians defense finally stepped up and retook the lead with 7:44 left, 70-69 and never looked back.

The Indians would go on to get the win, 94-87.

Coach Travis Garrett said, "I am not excited about the play of our defense, I am thrilled that Jimmy Givens was able to give us a spark with 37-points off the bench. We will suit up and try it again tomorrow against Clinton Jr. College, it's going to be a big test."

The Indians are now 15-9 on the season and 5-3 in Region X play.

The face Clinton Jr. College tomorrow at 4:00 pm.

USC Salkehatchie HOME weekend baseball~

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team will be at HOME this weekend against Walters State. The Indians will play a double-header on Saturday, game-time is scheduled for 2:00 pm with the second game scheduled to start around 4:00 pm.

On Sunday the Indians will play a 9-inning game with the start time scheduled for 12:30 pm.

We will have "LIVE" Twitter updates and will post photo's and a game recap after each day's games.

The USC Salkehatchie Indians basketball team will face Brunswick CC today at 5:00 pm at HOME in Walterboro, SC.

Today's game is a Region X game and USC Salkehatchie head Coach Travis Garrett said he hopes to draw a large crowd.
