Thursday, February 23 – 2 p.m. Baseball doubleheader vs. Spartanburg Methodist. First game at 2.

Thursday, February 23 – 6 p.m. SGA tailgate garnet and gold party Marvin Park Walterboro campus. Come enjoy food and fun and have your face painted prior to the last home game for basketball

Thursday, February 23 – 7:15 p.m. Basketball sophomore appreciation. We will recognize our sophomores just prior to their last home game. Gym in Walterboro.

Thursday, February 23 – 7:30 –Tip off for basketball vs. USC Sumter. Gym in Walterboro. USC mascot Cocky will be joining us for the game for your entertainment and will pose for pictures with you! Bring your families, children, neighbors to the game and enjoy Cocky!

Saturday, February 24 – 1 p.m. Softball vs. USC Lancaster at Salk field. Doubleheader

Sunday, February 25 – 12 noon – Softball vs. USC Lancaster at Salk field. Doubleheader.

Indians basketball wins thriller over Cape Fear

The Indians traveled to Cape Fear CC today and won a close one 75-73. The Indians will be back in action on Thurday at HOME against USC Sumter. Don't forget that will be have Sophomore Appreciation Night prior to the game and also Cocky the mascot for the Gamecocks will be on hand.

Baseball finals from Middle Georgia today

The Indians will be back in action again tomorrow in Cochran Georgia against Middle Georgia at 12:00 pm and Rend (IL) at 3:00 pm.

We will again have updates from the game once they become available.

This weekend's USC Salkehatchie baseball games scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Middle Georgia (Cochran, Ga) has been released-

Friday- 1:00 and 4:00 pm

Saturday- 12 (noon) and 3:00 pm

Indians lose on last second free throws by Aiken Tech, 75-73

The USC Salkehatchie Indians knew they needed this one tonight and no one more than USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett, "We need this win tonight, it is very important and I hope the players understand. We are in a great position right now in the standings but you have to win."

The Indians came out flat early in the first half, and it carried on to half-time as they trailed 34-33.

In the second half, the Indians continued to play flat early as they trailed by as many as 12-points. They would finally fight back and show some life by knotting the game up 53-53 with 10:20 left in the game.

With 1;02 remaining, it looked as though all was lost as the Indians trailed by 5-points but then things turned around with 12.1 seconds as Jimmy Givens hit a 3-pointer to pull within 2.

After Aiken Tech missed two free-throws, the Indians drove down the court getting 2-points from Quincy Washinton to tie the game 73-73 with 4.4 seconds remaining.

On the ensuing in bounds pass by Aiken Tech, Mark Cooper was called for the foul at half-court giving Aiken Tech a chance to win the game with 2.1 seconds.

Aiken Tech would hit both free throws and take the lead 75-73. The Indians last ditch effort from half-court by Quincy Washington bounced off the back of the rim, sealing the victory for Aiken Tech.

The Indians are now 16-11 on the season and 6-5 in Region X.

USC Salkehatchie defeats first place Spartanburg Methodist in Region X match-up

The USC Salkehatchie Indians came into tonight's contest knowing it was now or never. The Indians currently in 3rd place in Region X would need a win tonight against SMC and a win Wednesday against Aiken Tech if they wanted a shot at the Region X title.

"We have to come to play, tonight could determine a lot of things going into the Region X tournament in a few weeks. I told our kids in the locker room, it's now or never and it's up to you," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians came out with a renewed energy that hasn't been seen in some time and after going back and forth throughout the first half, they lead 41-39 at the half.

Coach Garrett said, " We have to keep in going in the second half, we have only gotten seven rebounds as a team. We have to stop them from having second and third chances."

In the second half, SMC jumped out to an 8-point lead but the Indians closed it down with 6:30 left 69-69.

The Indians then went on and 8-point run and never looked back.

The final score was USC Salkehatchie 89, Spartanburg Methodist 75.

They are now 16-10 on the year and 6-4 in Region X play.

"We played well tonight but I still want us to play better defense at times, we can't rest on one game. I told the guys when the final buzzer sounded, I was already looking towards Aiken Tech," said Coach Garrett.

USC Salkehatchie- 16 (Extra Innings 9)

Game 2 was suspended due to darkness in the 3rd inning and will not be replayed. Since it did not go the required five innings, it was not a complete game.

The USC Salkehatchie Indians basketball team is set to face Spartanburg Methodist College tonight at HOME in Walterboro, SC- tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
