Indians men's soccer defeats USC Lancaster 5-0

The USC Salkehatchie Indians men's soccer team improved to 3-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region X play. The Indians defeated USC Lancaster 5-0 at home today.

The will face Louisburg College on Saturday at HOME, come out and support the Indians.

The USC Salkehatchie SGA will be hosting Pack the Stands Day for the soccer games on Tuesday September the 11th. The Men’s game starts at 3:00 pm and women’s starts at 5:00 pm. Any student who attends and presents their student i.d. can receive a free hot dog or candy from the concessions stand. Let’s all go out and pack the stands! Games are against Region X foe, USC Lancaster!

Time change for men and women's soccer matches tomorrow September 11th, against USC Lancaster

If you notice on the website and in the USC Salkehatchie men's and women's media guide, tomorrow the women were scheduled to start at 3:00 and the men at 5:00 pm.

USC Salkehatchie head coach announced today that the men will now play first at 3:00 pm and the women will follow at 5:00 pm.

USC Salkehatchie women's soccer team improves to 4-0

The USC Salkehatchie Indians women's soccer team are off to the fastest start in their programs history after defeating the USC Beaufort (JV) Sand Sharks for the second Friday in a row.

The Indians started slow and trailed 2-0 last into the second half and after a 30-minute delay for lighting when they needed a goal in the worse way, they got three.

Scoring for the Indians were Kassie Contreras, Kimberly Giror and Elle Shelton.

The Indians improved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Region X play.

They will be back in action on Tuesday September 11th against Region X foe USC Lancaster, the match is set to begin at 3:00 pm.

The new USC Salkehatchie baseball press box is starting to take shape! This week, they have begun to add the stairs for access to the second floor.

In just a few more weeks, the Indians will have a beautiful addition to their baseball field!

USC Salkehatchie professors back on the gridiron~

While the majority of faculty and staff at the University of South Carolina at Salkehatchie has a passion for sports, only few have the opportunity to actively participate into their adult years. This is not the case for criminal justice professors John Peek and Larry Saunders.
Last week Peek laced up his shoes to begin his 30th season and Saunders his 21st as football officials for the South Carolina Football Official’s Association.

“John and I started out calling youth league games in North Charleston and we promised each other that we would work hard and set a goal to work at Williams-Brice Stadium since we both graduated from South Carolina,” Saunders said.

This goal was realized for the pair in 2006 when they were selected to work the 4A state championship game in Columbia. This past week Peek and Saunders returned to Williams-Brice Stadium to work the final scrimmage for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
“It is a great thrill having the opportunity to be on the field with Coach Spurrier and his team. They are a great group of young men who will represent our university well this year on and off the field,” Peek said.
Saunders, who is a 1989 graduate of USC Salkehatchie, and Peek have enjoyed numerous highlights over the years on the football field. The two have worked a combined 13 state championship games. Both have been selected to work the North-South All-star game and the Shrine Bowl. In 2006, Peek and Saunders were selected to work the first nationally televised high school game in South Carolina.

Peek and Saunders have served as leaders for the association with Saunders serving as district director for the Columbia area and Peek serving as district director for the Charleston area. Both were elected to state level positions, Saunders as president for the 700 member South Carolina Football Official’s Association in 2009 and Peek as the vice president. Peek was elected as president in 2010.

Peek and Saunders have one more goal: to be inducted into the Official’s Hall of Fame. That goal should be reached by both within the next couple of years.

USC Salkehatchie men's soccer falls for first time this season against NJCAA perennial powerhouse~

The USC Salkehatchie Indians traveled to Dunwoody, Georgia on Tuesday to face Georgia Perimeter college the winners of the 2005 NJCAA National Championship and runner-ups in 2004, 2007, 2009.
The Indians would fall by a final of 2-0. The Indians are now 2-1 on the regular season and 2-0 in Region X play.

The Indians will be back in action on September 11th at home against USC Lancaster at 5:00 pm.
