USC Salkehatchie Softball Player Earns National Recognition by COSIDA-ESPN THE Magazine for her Academic accomplishments

The USC Salkehatchie athletic department is proud to announce that sophomore-Cea Knox pitcher (Myrtle Beach, SC) has become the first ever player from USC Salkehatchie to earn the honor of be named to ESPN The Magazine Softball All-american, All-district second team as selected by COSIDA as a pitcher, in the College division. Cea was selected for District 3 which includes much of the eastern United States.

The selection is very rare for a junior college player and after looking through all the selections, it looks as though Cea is the only junior college player selected this year.

CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957. Previously, sports information directors, as a group, were a part of the American College Public Relations Association but most SIDs at those ACPRA meetings felt that a separate organization was needed. There were 102 members at the original meetings; since that time, CoSIDA has grown to over 2,300 members in the United States and Canada. The association is designed to help the SID at all levels. It is the desire of the members to have the profession take its rightful place on the decision-making levels of college athletics. Everything done is geared to this objective. This award is voted on by schools such as The University of South Carolina, The University of Georgia and other larger school such as these.
