The USC Salkehatchie Indians had trouble early against Columbia College in game 1. The Indians fell behind 5-0 after the top half of the 1st inning. In the bottom half of the 1st they were able to pick up 1 run. After the 2nd inning on, the Indians were on fire, scoring 14 runs in the game. Freshman Kandyce Ranew (Hampton, SC) hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 3rd to give the Indians the lead for good, 7-5.
Freshman Leigh Hite picked up the win.
The Indians are now 16-28 and 7-10 in Region X play.
