USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball RAINED OUT today at USC Lancaster

If you are looking for scores from today's scheduled baseball games vs USC Lancaster, the games were officially rained out.

Sunday's games are scheduled to start at 12 noon, both coaches are scheduled to meet to determine if the games will be able to be played. Once that information becomes available, I will post it here on the blog, twitter and facebook.

USC Salkehatchie Women's softball drops first two games of weekend series against Pitt CC


The USC Salkehatchie women's softball team dropped two earlier today to Pitt Community College a Region X opponent.

In game 1, sophomore Leigh Hite took the loss for the Lady Indians.

In game 2, sophomore Samantha Martin got the loss.


The Lady Indians will try and rebound on Sunday against the Lady Bulldogs in a scheduled double-header. Start-times are 12 noon and 2 pm at home in Allendale, South Carolina.


The Lady Indians fall to 4-8 on the season and 1-5 in Region X play.

USC Salkehatchie headed to USC Lancaster for weekend


The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team is headed to USC Lancaster for a weekend, 4-game series. The Indians are 14-14 on the season and 3-4 in Region X play.
We will have the scores here on the blog once they become available this weekend.

USC Salkehatchie Softball TIME CHANGE for Saturday!

The USC Salkehatchie Indians women's softball team will be at home this weekend to face Pitt Community College. The games on Saturday were orginally scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 pm on Saturday. Due to the threat of inclement weather late on Saturday the game's times have been changed to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
As for now Sunday's double-header is still scheduled for 12:00 and 3:00 pm. If the Sunday's game times are changed, I will post it here on the blog.

Former Indian outfielder signs with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier league



The Southern Illinois Miners have added two rookies coming off standout college careers with the signing of infielder Kyle Boe and (former USC Salkehatchie Indian) outfielder Gary Owens.

"Owens comes to the Miners from Southern Polytechnic (Ga.) University where he was a teammate of pitcher David Harden who signed with the Miners in January. In 2010 Owens hit .369 with 13 doubles, a pair of triples, 14 home runs and eight stolen bases in 12 attempts. He began his college career at the University of South Carolina Aiken where he hit .335 with 17 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs while stealing seven bases in 10 attempts. Prior to attending USC Aiken, Gary was a stand-out at USC Salkehatchie for two seasons."

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team is back in action today against the Anderson University JV in Anderson, South Carolina.

Game-time is scheduled for 3:00 pm and it is a scheduled double-header.

Former Indian throws-no hitter for Francis Marion (NCAA). Threw no-hitter as member of Indians~



Senior right-Francis Marion (NCAA) hander Cea Knox pitched a five-inning no-hitter against St. Andrews Presbyterian College, winning 15-0 Wednesday afternoon (March 9). Knox (9-3) allowed only one base runner – a fourth-inning walk – as FMU cruised to a 15-0 win in game one. The Patriots scored four runs in each of the first two innings. While a member of the USC Salkehatchie Indians softball team, Knox threw a no-hitter against NCAA member school Benedict College on February 23rd, 2009. Knox's no-hitter at USC Salkehatchie was the first and only one in school history. Knox holds school softball records at USC Salkehatchie for, wins (09) 13, saves (08) 1, games pitched (08) 39, games started(08) 30, innings pitched (08) 197.2 Knox earned national attention as a member of the Indians, named to ESPN The Magazine Softball All-american, All-district second team for her 3.98 GPA. She has since earned The Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll,as a Gold scholar (3.75-4.00 GPA) for the Patriots.

Indians baseball picks up two mid-week wins..



The USC Salkehatchatchie Indians baseball team picked up two non-region wins today against Limestone College JV. The Indians would take game 1, 1-0. freshman Richard Carmichael got the win for the Indians going 6 2/3rd innings, sophomore Kyle Pittman earned the save.
In game 2, the Indians would get 2 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings which would prove to be enough for the win, by a final of 4-2. Sophomore Tyler Asbury picked up the win, even though he only pitched for two innings. The Indians would go on to use seven more pitchers in the contest.
The Indians are now 12-10 on the season and 2-0 in Region X.
They will be back in action at home on Saturday and Sunday against Region X opponent Guilford Technical College. Game-time for Saturday is scheduled for 1:00 pm and Sunday at 12:00 noon, both days are scheduled double-headers.

USC Salkehatchie baseball at HOME-Tuesday March 15th at 2:00


The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team will be at HOME on Tuesday March 15th against the Limestone JV baseball team from Gaffney, South Carolina. Tuesday's game is a non-region mid-week game. We hope that you will come out and suport the Indians as the try and improve on their 10-10 season record.

Indians split weekend series with Region X foe-USC Sumter

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team traveled to Sumter, South Carolina this weekend to face USC Sumter. The Indians went into Saturday's game with an 8-8 record as they were facing their first Region X test of the season. On Saturday, the Indians bats would be the key in their game 1 13-10 victory over the Fire Ants. In game 2, the Indians would again fight back in the 7th inning to tie the game at 8 apiece and force extra innings. The Fire Ants would prevail in 9 innings, 11-10.

On Sunday, the Indians went back and forth with the Fire Ants in game 3 but it was the Fire Ants, fire power that propel them to 4-2 victory.
In the fourth and final game of the series, the Fire Ants jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first and would hold the lead until the to of the3rd when the Indians put 5-runs on the scoreboard. USC Sumter would answer in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 5-more runs of their own. The Indians last at bat in the top of the 7th, they would fight, scratch and rally for 3-runs to regain the lead 8-6. The Fire Ants in the bottom of the 7th would go three up and three down to give the Indians an 8-6 win.

In their first Region X weekend series of the season, the Indians split with the Fire Ants 2-games apiece. The Indians are now 10-10 overall and 2-2 in Region X play.

They will be back in action at home on Tuesday afternoon against Limestone JV at 2:00 in a scheduled double-header.

USC Salkehatchie baseball heads to USC Sumter for Region X match-up

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team will be headed to Sumter, South Carolina this weekend to face Region X foe, USC Sumter.

This weekend's games will mark the first Region X games of the season. So far in 2011, the Indians are 8-8.

We will have the results from each game this weekend once they become available.

Indians win game 3 15-11 and series 2 games to 1 over Stanly CC


The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team looked to Sunday's game against Stanly Community College as their chance to get back to .500 baseball. After a one hour rain delay, the Indians would fall behind early on 3-run third by the Eagles. The Indians would respond by scoring 3 in their half of the 3rd to tie the game.
Freshman pitcher Brandon Stoots would come out of the game in the top of the 4th and be replaced by freshman Richard Carmichael. Carmichael would get the first batter he faced to pop out to left field but after running into trouble for the next three batters, he would get pulled. Sophomore Tyler Asbury came in and shut things down and would remain in the game for it's remainder.
The day would belong to freshman Ryan Walker after he entered the game due to an injury to D.J. Osby early in the game. Osby was trying to lay down a sacrifice bunt when he was hit in the finger with two strikes and had to leave the game. Walker took his at bat over and struck out.
It was Walker's next three bats that would set the tone for the Indians offense. In the bottom of the fourth he would hit his first collegiate home run, a two run shot. He wouldn't be done for the day as he hit two more two-run homers in the bottom of the 6th and 8th, giving him 6-rbi's on the day and three home runs. His last gave the Indians the go ahead runs and the victory. Sunday's win gave the Indians the series (2-1) over Stanly CC.
Sophomore Tyler Asbury earned the victory in relief for the Indians, his first of the season.
The Indians are now 8-8 on the season and will be back in action next weekend (March 12th and 13th) for their first Region X weekend series of the year against USC Sumter in Sumter, South Carolina.

The USC Salkehatchie Indians VS Stanly Community College baseball game scheduled for 12:00 noon is under a rain-delay. The sun is finally out, so if you want to enjoy a great afternoon of baseball, come out and join us.
Once we get ready for today's first pitch, I will post it here on the blog and on Facebook and Twitter.

USC Salkehatchie splits with Stanly CC on Saturday


The USC Salkehatchie Indians sent sophomore Bert Knox to the mound in game 1. He would struggle some in the first inning but a wild pitch with 1 out would score the games only runs, as Stanly would score runners from 3rd and 2nd.
The Indians were unable to produce any offense for much of the game but in the bottom of the 7th, they would get runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Freshman Tyler Kirby would try and move the runners over by bunting a third strike foul for the Indians first out. Freshman Tyler Bice then came to the plate with a chance to move the runners over but he would hit a shot to third that ended the game in a double-play.
Knox would last 3 1/3 innings and freshman Jeremy Lacey would complete the game for the Indians.
In game 2, freshman Kalin Smith took the mound for the Indians. Smith has had excellent control for the Indians this season, with two complete games under his belt.
The Indians would strike first 1st inning when sophomore's Robby Assemany hit a deep fly ball that scored freshman Jermale Paige. They would add one more when freshman Tyler Bice scored from second on a single by freshman Dominik Aiken.
They would add one more in the bottom of the 2nd.
The Eagles would strike back in the top of the 3rd when Hunter Dull drove in Jarrett Ross.
Freshman Kalin Smith would get into some small trouble in the top of the 7th with 2-outs, when Jarrett Ross hit an RBI double. Coach Bubba Dorman went to the bullpen and called in sophomore Kyle Pittman to secure the Indians victory.
One pitch later, Pittman had secured an Indians victory and Smith's 3rd victory of the season.
Smith is now 3-1.
The Indians are now, 7-8 on the season.
They will be back in action against the Eagles at home on Sunday at 12:00 noon.

USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians split with Stanly Community College



The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team traveled to Locust, North Carolina today to face Stanly Community College a non-region foe.


In game 1, the Lady Indians handled Stanly easily as they cruised at 7-2 victory. Sophomore Leigha Hite earned the win for the Lady Indians.


In game two, the Indians would succumb to an array of errors according to USC Salkehatchie head coach Tatjana Slawson in the effort to sweep Stanly CC. The Lady Indians fell by a final of 5-4. Sophomore Samantha Martin took the loss.
The Lady Indians are now 4-6 on the season and 1-3 in Region X.

They will be back in action March 26th against Pitt Community College in Whiteville, North Carolina.
