USC Salkehatchie V Aiken Tech recap- NJCAA Basketball

USC Salkehatchie Indians head basketball coach Travis Garrett tried to emphasis to his team prior to the start of last night's game, they were in a must-win situation. The Indians came into the game sitting at 5-5 in Region X play and a loss would put them next to last in the standings.

In the first half, the Indians came out and looked good very early on. It was when Aiken Tech head coach Bruce Capers called a time-out with 9:30 left in the first half, that his team came to life and never looked back.

The Indians went down by 10 with 6:49 left in the first half but pulled within 7 when Brandon Riley hit a 3-pointer with 5:48.

The Knights would eventually grow their lead as they headed in the locker room ahead, 41-26.

In the second half, the Indians never threatened Aiken Tech as their lead grew even larger and in the end, the Knights took the win by a final of 81-54.

" I have never been as embarrassed by a loss as I am tonight. I can't understand how our guys don't come out with the fire and determination when they know what is on the line. At this point, I don't know what it is going to take to get better, maybe something will click on inside the players," said coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians will finish up the regular season this Saturday against Spartanburg Methodist College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
