USC Salkehatchie baseball and softball teams focus on weekend games~


The USC Salkehatchie baseball and softball teams are preparing for a weekend of Region X action.


The USC Salkehatchie softball team will travel on April 3rd to take on Stanley Community College in Albermarle, North Carolina.


The Indians will play a Region X double header with games starting at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. They will enter the contest with an overall record of 14-19 and 6-3 in Region X play.

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team will do something a little different due to Easter weekend. The Indians will travel to Spartanburg Methodist for a Friday and Saturday meeting. They will play two games on Friday and two on Saturday, they would normally play on Saturday and Sunday.


The Indians are 10-19-1 overall and 6-3 in Region X.

USC Salkehatchie featured as "NJCAA College of the Month" for March 2010


The National Junior College Athletic Association is featuring USC Salkehatchie as its College of the Month for March 2010. USC Salkehatchie is featured on the cover and in a two page article inside the magazine. The magazine, the NJCAA Review, is mailed to the 500 plus NJCAA member colleges nationwide each month.

Indians softball falls on hard times in game 2 after exciting finish to game 1~

The USC Salkehatchie Indians softball team fell on hard times in game 2 after an exciting finish to game 1.

Freshman Samantha Martin started game 2 and gave up a grand slam that gave the Pioneers a 5-0 lead early in the contest.

The Indians were unable to come back and finally lost by a final of 7-1.

The Indians are now 14-19 and 6-4 in Region X.

USC Salkehatchie picks up win in game 4, 12-2




The USC Salkehatchie Indians finally in game 4 got the bats going with 13 hits and won game 4 by a final of 12-2 in 5 innings.


Sophomore Ryan Rowe picked up the win, his record is now 3-2.

USC Salkehatchie rally in bottom 7th to win 2-1


The USC Salkehatchie softball team had chances all game to go ahead against Spartanburg Methodist College. The Pioneers lead through 7 innings but in the bottom of the 7th, the Indians were able to get the win when sophomore Symone Nettles (Lamar, SC) hit a shot up the middle to score the winning run.


The Indians now sit at 14-18 overall and 6-3 in Region X.

USC Salkehatchie drops game 3 against USC Lancaster

USC Lancaster leads the series 3 games to none against USC Salkehatchie this weekend. Sophomore Bobby Wilkins (Gaffney, SC) through another complete for the Indians but picked up the loss, he is now 3-2 on the year.

The Indians bats fell silent in game 3 as they were unable to score any runs.

Game 4 is currently underway and the Indians lead 2-1 as we head to the top of the 3rd.

USC Salkehatchie softball game VS Spartanburg Methodist moved up to 12:00 noon due to threat of rain~

The USC Salkehatchie VS Spartanburg Methodist College Region X game that was scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 pm, has been changed to 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm. The games were changed according to USC Salkehatchie head coach Mitch Smith due to the threat of rain in the area in the afternoon.

The Indians will look to improve in the Region X standings as they face Spartanburg Methodist College. I will have updates via Twitter, Facebook and here on the "Official" USC Salkehatchie athletic blog.

USC Salkehatchie baseball will look to rebound in games 3 and 4 against USC Lancaster on Sunday~

The USC Salkehatchie Indians will look to get a split against USC Lancaster after losing two games on Saturday. The Indians will look to sophomores Ryan Rowe (Newberry,SC) and Bobby Wilkins (Gaffney, SC) to earn the victories from the mound.

Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm as of now, there is a threat of rain in the area for Sunday and if the games are moved up I will post here on the blog.

Indians threaten in bottom of 7th but fall short 8-7



The USC Salkehatchie Indians trailed 3-0 headed into the bottom half of inning 4, when a home run by freshman Robert Assemany (Chapin, SC) sparked the Indians to a 3 run inning.
USC Lancaster added 1 in the top half of the 5th and the Indians responded with one in the bottom half of the inning.

It would be USC Lancaster getting 3 more in the top half of the 6th that would be the backbreaker. Knox came out of the game and turned it over to sophomore Dustin Pannell (Aiken, SC) with a runner on first. Pannell would give up three runs on 4 hits. Even though the Indians added one more in the bottom of the 6th. In the top of the 5th freshman Kyle Pittman (Anderson,SC) came in to close the game out, giving up 1 run.
The final was USC Lancaster 8, USC Salkehatchie 7.
Freshman Bert Knox (Myrtle Beach, SC) takes the loss, he is now 1-3 on the year.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday in Allendale, SC for games 3 and 4. As of now the game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm if anything changes, I will post here on the blog.

Indians blow early lead fall 9-7 to USC Lancaster


USC Salkehatchie lead through 5 innings by a score of 6-3 but in the top of the 5th, USC Lancaster put 4 on the board to take the lead. The Lancers would add one in the 6th and 7th to get the win 9-7.

The Indians threatened in the bottom of the 7th with runners on 1st and 3rd before freshman Arron Davis struck out to end the game.

Freshman D.J. Lawson(0-5) pitched 6 innings before sophomore Griffin Spires came out in relief.

USC Salkehatchie baseball home for weekend series VS USC Lancaster, starting today~

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team will be back at home starting today at 1:00 for a 4-game series with Region X foe USC Lancaster.

The Indians will play a double header today and another tomorrow starting at 1:00 pm.

USC Salkehatchie softball sweeps South Georgia





The USC Salkehatchie Indians jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second of game 1. Freshman starting pitcher Leigh Hite (Gilbert, SC) hit a three-run home run in the second to give the Indians the lead.


The game was tied 5-5 headed to the bottom of the 7th when the Lady Indians got the winning run. Hite now 7-8 on the season got the win for the Indians.


In game two, it took the Indians four innings to get going, in the bottom of the 4th they trailed 4-0. In the bottom half of the 4th they added four to tie the game at four apiece.


It would take eight innings to finally settle it in Allendale, South Carolina when freshman Dannon Reese (Aiken, South Carolina) drove in the game winning run.


Freshman Samantha Martin (Charleston, South Carolina) went the distance and earned the win. She is now 6-8 on the year.


The Indians are now 13-18 overall and 5-3 in Region X play.


They will be back in Region X play on Sunday when they host Spartanburg Methodist College, the games are scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 pm.

Indians have tough 5th inning~fall 10-1


USC Salkehatchie found themselves down 2-1 headed to the top of the 5th and that is when the wheels fell off. The Indians gave up 8-runs in the top of the inning and was unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning.


The game was called after 5-innings due to the 8-run rule.

The Indians will host South Georgia tomorrow in Allendale, South Carolina with game times at 1:00 and 3:00 pm.

Freshman Samatha Martin (Charleston, South Carolina) took the loss for the Indians, she is 5-8 on the season.
