USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball defeats #4 ranked Walters State 8-3

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team pulled off a huge win today against the #4 ranked team in the NJCAA, Walters State by a final of 8-3.

Sophomore Brandon Stoots picked up the win for the Indians.

The Indians improve to 4-7 on the season.

They will be back in action March 2nd against South Georgia in Douglas, Georgia for a double header.

Lady Indians drop second game of double-header against USC Sumter today~


The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team dropped their second game of today's with USC Sumter 4-3. The Lady Indians also lost their series with the Fire Ants, 3 games to 1.

Sophomore Samantha Martin (Charleston, SC) took the loss on the mound.

The Lady Indians fall to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in Region X play.
They will be back in action March 4th against Stanly Community College in Locust, North Carolina. The double-header is scheduled to start at 1:00 and 3:00 pm.

Lady Indians earn 2nd victory of season in game 3 of 4 game series against USC Sumter~


The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team picked up their 2nd victory of the young season today in the first game of a scheduled double-header.
Sophomore Leigha Hite (Gilbert,SC) got the win for the Indians
The Indians will try and earn a split of their 4 game series with the Fire Ants in game 2 today.
We will have the final from today's game once it becomes available!

USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians drop two against Region X foe, USC Sumter~


The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team traveled to Sumter, South Carolina today to face Region X foe, USC Sumter. The Lady Indians would fall in both games of the double header but would force game 2 two extra innings, USC Sumter would prevail 2-1 in the 10th inning.

Indians pick up 3rd win of the season against South Georgia

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team came out in game 2 today and picked up their 3rd win of the season. Freshman Kalin Smith picked up the win for the Indians.

It takes extra innings for #4 team in NJCAA to defeat USC Salkehatchie (Baseball)

For the second time this season, the Indians fought back late in a game to take a game into extra innings. Sophomore David Rickenbacker hit a home run late to tie the game at 1-1. The Indians would add 3 more runs in the contest but Walters State would eventually outlast them 5-4.

The Indians will be back in action today at 5:30 pm against South Georgia College. We will have the final score once the game is completed.

Weekend of baseball set for USC Salkehatchie baseball at HOME


A full weekend of baseball is set for the USC Salkehatchie Indians in Allendale, South Carolina. The Indians will lead things off in a 3-team weekend of baseball against the #4 ranked team in the NJCAA Walters State at 12:00 pm. Following game 1, #4 Walters State will face South Georgia at 3:00 pm. In the late afternoon game, USC Salkehatchie will hit the field for the final two games of the day against South Georgia starting at 5:30 pm. (All of Saturday's games will be 7-innings)

On Sunday, one game is on tap and that will feature USC Salkehatchie against #4 Walters State for their second match-up of the weekend. The game is scheduled for 12:30 pm and is a 9-inning contest.

Due to a health issue, I will be unable to attend the games but as soon as the scores become available, I will post them here on the official USC Salkehatchie athletics blog.

USC Salkehatchie defeats Spartanburg Methodist in Spartanburg, SC


The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team traveled to Spartanburg Methodist College last night to face the Spartanburg Methodist College Pioneers in a crucial Region X match-up.
Spartanburg Methodist College lead 46-31 in the second half and still led, 57-49, with less than three minutes remaining. Indians sophomore Darnell Jackson made back-to-back 3-pointers, to cut the Pioneers lead to 60-59 with 23 seconds left.
The Pioneers turned the ball over on their final three possessions and before making three of four from the foul line following the technical, had missed five of six. The Indians Bradley Smith would provide the game-winning layup with 14.3 remaining which gave the Indians their first lead of the game.


“It was a great win for our program,” USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett said. “We were determined not to give up and tonight we came out on top. I think we have a great group of young men and I couldn't be happier about their performance tonight down the stretch.”
The Indians are now 15-14 overall and 7-5 in Region X play. The Region X tournament starts this Thursday in Denmark, SC. Once brackets are set, we will post them here on the blog.

USC Salkehatchie softball VS Georgia Military cancelled today


If you are looking for scores from today's scheduled USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball games with Georgia Military College, the games were cancelled.


At this time no make-up date has been scheduled.


The Lady Indians will be back in action tomorrow against USC Sumter in Sumter, South Carolina. The games are scheduled to start at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, they will be the first Region X games of the season.


We will report the results here on the blog once they become available.

USC Salkehatchie headed to Cochran,Georgia for weekend series with Middle Georgia College~

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team is headed to Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia for a weekend series. The Indians faced East Georgia last weekend and won game 1 but lost the final 2 in the series. Friday's game is scheduled for 7:00 pm tonight, Saturday's games (double-header) is scheduled for 1:00 and Sundays final (9-innings) game will get started at a time yet determined. We will have scores from the games as the become available exclusively here on the Official USC Salkehatchie Athletics Blog!

Indians let one slip away against Aiken Technical College




The USC Salkehatchie Indians started tonight's contest of a 12-6 run to open against Aiken Technical College. The Indians would trail from the 11:00 minute mark till the end of the first half, as they found themselves down 36-33.


The Indians would fight back in the second half and themselves in the game down the stretch. The Indians regained the lead for the first time since the early minutes with 11:36 left in the second half.


The would retain that lead until 9:17 but would only hold it for a brief moment as Aiken Tech came roaring back.


USC Salkehatchie had one final chance with 1:59 left in the game down by only one (63-62). Aiken Tech would finally take a lead on hold on it down the stretch and eventually win, 72-65.

Game comes down to wire with Spartanburg Methodist College as Indians win 69-67 on Jackson free-throws


The USC Salkehatchie Indians lead at the half 39-38 as the tried to right the ship after a 3-game losing streak. The Indians trailed by 12 at one point in the 1st half but fought back to go up by one as time expired to end the half.


In the second half, the Indians trailed most of the half but remained close as they headed down the stretch. In the last minute of the game, the Indians had a chance to go up by two but a missed one and one byLouis Hargrove gave the Pioneers a chance.


With under 25 seconds, SMC decided to go for the games final shot with a 6-second difference between the game and shot clock. SMC missed their final shot and as sophomore Darnell Jackson rebounded for USC Salkehatchie, he was fouled and would be shooting two.


Jackson would sink both and with six seconds SMC was able to drive for one final shot but it also would come up short.


The USC Salkehatchie Indians are now 14-13 and 6-3 in Region X. SMC falls to 17-7 and 5-4 in Region X.


The Indians will be back in action on Wednesday night against Aiken Technical College at 7:30 pm.

USC Salkehatchie baseball HOME today against East Georgia!

USC Salkehatchie will face East Georgia at home for their 3rd game of the weekend series. The Indians won game 1 yesterday 9-5 but fell in extra-innings in game 2, 8-7.

Today's game starts at 1:00 pm and it will be a single 9-inning game.

Indians split double-header with East Georgia 9-5, 8-7 (8)


The USC Salkehatchie Indians would get an early season win in game 1 of the season opener double header on Saturday, 9-5. In game two, the Indians would trail throughout the game but in the bottom of the seventh, they would rally to force the game to extra-innings. After the Indians committed an error in the top of the 8th, that would give East Georgia the go ahead run, the were unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning.
Bert Knox 1-0 (Sophomore) earned the win for the Indians in game 1.
They will face off for a series deciding 9-inning game this afternoon at 1:00 pm in Allendale, South Carolina.

USC Salkehatchie men's basketball drops two on road trip, losing streak now at 3-games~



The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team has fallen on hard times in the last three games. After riding a 12-game winning streak into last Friday's contest with Cape Fear CC, the Indians are now on a 3-game losing streak. The Indians will be back in action this Monday against SMC at 7:30 pm at HOME. Come out and cheer the Indians on to victory !

USC Salkehatchie men's basketball on the road this weekend~


The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team will hit the road this weekend with two games in the state of North Carolina. On Friday, the Indians will make a stop in Wilmington, NC to face Cape Fear CC in a rematch of their 91-81 loss to the Sea Devils last Friday night.


The Indians which were on a 12 game winning streak up until that loss will look to right the ship this weekend in two huge Region X games.


On Saturday the Indians will travel to Supply, NC and face Brunswick CC at 3:00 pm. The Indians won their first contest against the Dolphins earlier this year at home, 88-69.


"This is a very important weekend as we are facing two very good teams that are well coached. We are going in this weekend with a great week of practice in which we were very focused. I said after the loss to Cape Fear CC that we needed to get grounded and not worry about winning streaks. I think the team gets in now, we will see this weekend," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team's season opener is this Saturday, February 12th against East Georgia, start-time is scheduled for 1:00 for the first of two games.

The Indians will face East Georgia again on Sunday February 13th in a 9-inning game, game-time is also scheduled for 1:00 pm.

We hope to see everyone out at the field as we kick off the 2011 season!

USC Salkehatchie's 12-game winning streak comes to an end at the hands of Cape Fear CC 91-81


The USC Salkehatchie Indians men's basketball team fell short tonight at home against Cape Fear Community College, 91-81.


The Indians normal high powered offense was nonexsistant from the start of the contest, the Indians never lead in the contest. They were able to muster a 34-34 tie with 2:68 left in the first half. The score at the half was 42-39 Cape Fear CC.


The Sea Devils would control the entire second half as Tavares Speaks lead the way, pumping in 37 points.


The Indians would eventually fall by a final of 91-81 to Cape Fear CC.

USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett said, "We have to learn from tonight, the streak is over and I am glad. The kids have to understand we have to get back to work. We will meet them again next Friday, it's a huge game. We have to watch game film and get to work."


USC Salkehatchie goes to 13-11 on the season and 5-1 in Region X play.

Cape Fear is now 16-7 on the season and 4-2 in Region X.
