Note To Our Fans, from USC Salkehatchie Athletic Director-Mrs. Jane Brewer

I just wanted to post a note to you to tell all of you how much we appreciate your overwhelming interest and support for our athletic programs at USC Salkehatchie! I was lucky enough to be able to go to the softball games at USC Sumter last Wednesday and to the baseball games at USC Lancaster on Sunday. I was amazed at the great attendance we had at both places! I believe we had as many fans at both places as the home teams did!

Every day at USC Salkehatchie I am impressed with our athletes and their ability to juggle their practices and game schedules with their academics and with their involvement on campus with student activities, Student Government Association and community efforts like their current canned food drive for the food bank in Allendale. We have an excellent group of young men and young women on our campus. We’re proud of them.

Thanks to you, their families, for entrusting them to us for both their athletic endeavors and their education. Your support of our athletes both on and off the field as well as your support of our campus is very much appreciated!

See you soon at the field!

New feature: Poll question-Did you play college athletics

If you will look at the top right side of this page, you will notice a new feature that we have added to the USC Salkehatchie Indians "Official" athletic blog. We are going to be asking random questions that will be used for our data here in the sports information office. I hope that you will take the time to review the poll and answer the questions, it will only take a moment of your time. The poll question will normally run for 3-4 days, depending on the question.
I started with Did you play college athletics as our first question because it will be interesting to see how many people that visit the site, actually played some sort of athletics in college.
I know that everyone is very busy with work, family and other things but I hope you will take a moment to answer the poll each time a new one is posted.
Once a new poll question is asked, I will post it to the main body of the blog to make you aware that it has changed, again thank you for your input.

Weather for Lancaster, South Carolina-Rest of the day and tomorrow-

Weather, weather, weather, this weekend seems to be all about the weather. I am ready for it to rain here in the Allendale, South Carolina area but thus far, all we have seen is a light drizzle for 5-minutes here and there.

The Lady Indians softball games were cancelled on Friday as Coach Mitch Smith anticipated severe weather in the Allendale area. Thus far, it has been anything but severe, most weather experts have been saying we should see rain but again they have been wrong-SURPRISE!

When the Indians baseball team left for Lancaster, South Carolina this morning, it looked as though the games were a go but when they arrived, the skies opened up and the games were cancelled.

Coach Jeff Wicker said earlier that there is a 1% chance of playing later today, so I don't expect to report any scores today.

Now, the games tomorrow look as they may be played with the prediction of the weather improving overnight in Lancaster. It would seem that all is a go for Sunday but not so fast, the question now becomes, what shape will the field be in after so much rain? I am not sure what the USC Lancaster fields drainage situation is and it will be interesting to see if it will be able to dry fast enough to get the games in.

So, as I type this at 3:30 pm on Saturday, we sit, we wait for the rain to come and go. I am ready for some USC Salkehatchie baseball!

SUNDAY FORECAST FOR LANCASTER, SOUTH CAROLINA:

Partly sunny and breezy. Highs in the mid 60s. Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph.

Stay tuned for more updates on the weather throughout the evening and first thing Sunday morning.

*I just heard that if it stops raining in the Lancaster, SC area this afternoon, there is a slight chance that they could try and play the games tonight. Last update on this Coach Jeff Wicker just sent me a text and explained it looks like a 1% chance they could play this afternoon.

I will keep you updated as soon as I know anything about this afternoon's chance of games and tomorrow's games against USC Lancaster! As soon as I know, you will know. So, stay tuned to http://www.uscsalkindians.blogspot.com/ for all your USC Salkehatchie athletic updates!

NOTICE: Lady Indians Softball Weekend Games Cancelled!

NOTICE:
After posting all the weather updates for this weekend, the Lady Indians head softball coach Mitch Smith has cancelled all the games for the weekend. It looks as though all games could have been rained out and with the current economic situation, he felt it better to save the teams making the trip a wasted trip with gas costs and motel expenses.
The Lady Indians were scheduled to play Pitt Community College on Saturday (Double-Header) and on Sunday they were scheduled to play Patrick Henry Community College (Double-Header).
The Sunday games against Patrick Henry Community College have rescheduled for April 19th at 2 pm and 4 pm.
