Brandon Hall and Sean Bass have been in the dugout for all 102 Cobra baseball games played over the past four years. Picture along with Hall and Bass (seated) are Lisa Patrick and David Bass, Trina and Tony Hall, athletic director Tim McDowell, baseball coach Shane Todd and USC-Salkehatchie Coach Bubba Dorman. According to Cane Bay baseball coach Shane Todd, the Cobra baseball program lost a little bit of its heart and soul with graduation this spring.

Two of Todd’s original Cobras signed letters of intent to play baseball at USC-Salkehatchie last month. Shortstop Brandon Hall and outfielder Sean Bass will continue their baseball careers with the Indians.

“We were lucky to get a pair of ballplayers of this caliber so late into the signing season,” said USC-Salkehatchie Coach Bubba Dorman. “We got a pair of fine players in Brandon Hall and Sean Bass.”

Todd said both Hall and Bass were part of the face of Cane Bay Cobra baseball.

“These two guys were part of the Cobra baseball program since its beginning,” he said. “That’s 102 baseball games where these two guys were in the dugout. It’s going to be hard to look into the dugout or out on the field next year and not see Brandon or Sean.”

Hall is excited about the prospect of taking his game to the next level and will make the most of this opportunity. “Not many players get this opportunity,” he said. “I’m going to work really hard on the field and in the classroom to get into a four-year college.”

Bass shared his teammate’s sentiment.

“I’m excited about playing college baseball,” the outfielder said. “Not many high school athletes get this opportunity and I appreciate what playing for Cane Bay did for me.”

As part of the school’s first team, Hall and Bass brought home a pair of Region 7AAA championships and advanced to the District VII finals before losing to Berkeley.

For the spring 2013 season, the Cobras will make the jump to Class AAAA.
