The USC Salkehatchie men and womens soccer practices have gotten underway today. The Indians have had a wonderful day here in Allendale, South Carolina for practicing with the tempature right around 93 degrees for the high. The Indians will continue to practice until the first exhibition match which takes place on August 18 against Brewton-Parker College at 5 pm in Mount Vernon, GA. The first home match will be against Cape Fear Community College on September 1 at 4 pm.
Coach Glass spoke about the first few practices;
Our men’s and women’s teams began practice at 7 am Monday with a fitness test.
The level of fitness on the men’s team was excellent and I am could see that the men recruits
and the returning players all worked hard on their fitness programs over the summer.
Several of the women’s team players were also quite fit but a few looked like they maybe should
have worked a little harder this summer.
We also had our first training sessions yesterday focusing in on ball work and offensive tactics and I was very
happy with the high level of intensity, on-field communication and the enthusiasm on both the men’s and women’s teams.
This is what coaches refer as the training personality of the teams and I can tell at this point
that both squads have excellent training personalities. I can tell that I am going to enjoy working with
these players throughout the season.
