Indians upset Region X leader Clinton Jr. College

The USC Salkehatchie Indians traveled to Rock Hill, SC last night to face Region X leader, Clinton Jr. College.

The Indians were 3-3 in Region X entering last night's game and were in need of a Region X win, "We knew it was going to be a tough game, I saw Clinton when they came to our tournament and I knew they were a quality basketball team. I told our guys, we had to step it to a different notch to beat them," said Coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians would find themselves in a familiar place in the first half, down by 14-points at one point but they would stabilize before the half with Clinton leading 47-41.

The Indians shooting only 52% from the free throw line would take the game at the line last night against Clinton.

"We finally started putting things together at the free throw line and it helped us down the stretch. I knew we hit them in practice but in the games, we were struggling," said Coach Garrett.

The Indians poured in 53 second half point to earn the 100-91 victory over Clinton Jr. College.

Coach Garrett said, "We have to start going inside more, we did against Denmark Tech and scored a 100 and again tonight we go inside and get the win. I think this team has only scratched the surface on how good they can actually be, time will tell."

The Indians are now 14-9 on the season and 4-3 in Region X.

They will be back in action on Friday at home against Brunswick CC, tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
