The USC Salkehatchie Indians knew they needed this one tonight and no one more than USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett, "We need this win tonight, it is very important and I hope the players understand. We are in a great position right now in the standings but you have to win."
The Indians came out flat early in the first half, and it carried on to half-time as they trailed 34-33.
In the second half, the Indians continued to play flat early as they trailed by as many as 12-points. They would finally fight back and show some life by knotting the game up 53-53 with 10:20 left in the game.
With 1;02 remaining, it looked as though all was lost as the Indians trailed by 5-points but then things turned around with 12.1 seconds as Jimmy Givens hit a 3-pointer to pull within 2.
After Aiken Tech missed two free-throws, the Indians drove down the court getting 2-points from Quincy Washinton to tie the game 73-73 with 4.4 seconds remaining.
On the ensuing in bounds pass by Aiken Tech, Mark Cooper was called for the foul at half-court giving Aiken Tech a chance to win the game with 2.1 seconds.
Aiken Tech would hit both free throws and take the lead 75-73. The Indians last ditch effort from half-court by Quincy Washington bounced off the back of the rim, sealing the victory for Aiken Tech.
The Indians are now 16-11 on the season and 6-5 in Region X.
