USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball drop 3-games over weekend to #8 Walters State



The USC Salkehatchie Indians played host to the #8 team in the nation (NJCAA) this weekend.



On Saturday, in game 1 the Indians fell behind early and would end up getting the 5-0 loss. Jon Reed of Walters State had a perfect game going into the top of the 7th (Per double-header rules a complete game is 7-innings) but he would walk the first batter. Reed still earned a no-hitter against the Indians. USC Salkehatchie's Brandon Stoots took the loss, he is 0-2 on the season.



In game 2 on Saturday, Adrian Rivero took the mound for the Indians. He was cruising through the first 5 1/3 innings, having not giving up a run. It was Walter States Marcus Davis that would break the tie with a shot over the right center field wall. It was a 2-run home run and the only runs of the game, Walters State would go on to win 2-0. USC Salkehatchie's starting pitcher Rivero is now 1-1 on the young season.



Game 3 on Sunday was a scheduled 9-inning game. Richard Carmichael started on the mound for the Indians and ran into trouble in the second and third innings giving up three runs. The Indians would get on the scoreboard for the first time in the series when Ryan Walker hit a home run over the left fence.

Walters State's Marcus Davis would add two more home runs, bringing his total to three for the weekend. Kendall Keeton added another home run in the game for Walters State.

Carmichael (0-2) would get the loss for the Indians, as they fell 11-2 to Walters State.



The Indians will be back in action next Saturday against USC Lancaster in Lancaster, SC and the two teams will meet again on Sunday in Allendale, SC. (Both days are scheduled double-headers)
