Finally, scores from USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball vs Georgia Perimeter-yesterday!!!

Well, well, well!!

You know the old saying, it is better late than NEVER, these scores seem to be as late as any that I have ever received.

I hit on the highlights below in the previous post but here are the scores from yesterday's games in Cochran, Georgia against Georgia Perimeter.

In game 1, the Indians won in 7 inning by a final score of 4-2

In game 2, the Indians took Georgia Perimeter to extra innings (9) but couldn't hold on for victory. The final score in game two was 4-3.

I am sorry for the delay but like I said, it's better late than never!

Indians baseball splits at Georgia Perimeter in Cochran, Ga.

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team split with Georgia Perimeter today in Cochran, Georgia according to assistant head coach Jeff Wicker.

I don't have any scores from the games but I know we won game 1 and Branfy Arias hit a home-run for the Indians. Thomas Nichols picked up the win on the mound.

In game two the Indians fell in extra innings. I am sorry that I don't have much more to offer but I had to attend the USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball game in Allendale, SC.

The Indians are now 21-19 and 11-9 in Region X.

Lady Indians win, win, win!!!! Game 2

Sophomore Michelle Turner (Sumter, SC) after hitting game winning grand-slam!!!




Wow! It has taken me a moment to catch my breathe but the Lady Indians have swept the Lady Fire Ants both in Sumter and now in Allendale, SC.

In game 2 the Lady Indians won in great fashion, as Michelle Turner (Sumter,SC) hit a grand-slam, only the second in school history. Both of the grand-slams hit in school history have been hit by Turner and both against USC Sumter.

The Lady Indians are now 15-18 and 4-6 in Region X.

Even though today was a Region X team, it does not count towards the Region record.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Lady Indians were down by 1-run(2-1) but after 3-batters, Michelle Turner hit a GRAND-SLAM to give the Lady Indians a 5-2 lead heading into the 7th and final inning.

After 5 innings, the Lady Indians still trail in game 2 by a score of 2-1.

The Lady Indians find themselves in a 2-0 hole as we start the bottom of the 4th.

Lady Indians win game 1, 7-5

The lady Indians lead 7-1 going into the final inning but you have it give it to the USC Sumter Lady Fire Ants as they scored 4-runs in the top of the 7th to make the final
USC Salkehatchie 7, USC Sumter 5.

Cea Knox earned the win for the Lady Indians.

Lady Indians extend lead

The Lady Indians have scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to extend their lead over USC Sumter 7-1.

We are now in the top of the 6th.

Today's game is a Region X game and a must win for the Lady Indians.

The Indians will try and sweep the non-region double-header today against Georgia Perimeter in Covington, Ga., the first pitch is set for 3:00 pm.

The Indians split with Middle Georgia yesterday in Allendale, SC.

USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians ready for the USC Sumter Lady Fire Ants

The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians are ready to rebound after a disappointing last few Region X games against Aiken Technical College and Spartanburg Methodist over the weekend.

The Lady Indians go into tomorrows games with an over-all record of 13-18 and 4-8 in Region X.

The Lady Indians defeated USC Sumter earlier this season in a double-header in Sumter, South Carolina.

I hope that you will check the blog often tomorrow for updates from the game, I may broadcast either game 1 or game 2 of the double-header. I have a prior engagement first thing in the morning and it all depends on whether I am able to get the information together in time for the games.

Indians lose heartbreaker in extra-innings 13-7

The Indians have lost a heartbreaker in extra-innings by a final score of 13-7 against Middle Georgia.

Korey Ahrens hit his 2nd home-run on the season and Carlito Santana hit his 3rd.

I am unsure what inning it ended as I can't get the information, once it becomes available, I will post it to the blog.

The Indians are now 18-19 over-all and 11-9 in Region X .

Indians headed into extra innings with Middle Georgia

The Indians lead at one point by as many as 2-runs but in the top of the 7th, the Warriors came back to take the lead 7-6. In the bottom half of the 7th the Indians tied the game 7-7 and we are now headed to extra-innings at the top of the 8th with the score tied 7-7.

Indians (baseball) take 5-3 lead over Middle Georgia in game 2

After leading 1-o heading into the top of the third, the Indians now lead 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

Freshman Dustin Pannell has hit a home-run to help the Indians take the lead.

Again, in the bottom of the fourth, the Indians lead 5-3, they have scored one run this inning.

Game 2 UPDATE against Middle Georgia update

The Indians are underway in game 2 and in the top of the second inning, they find themselves trailing the Warriors of Middle Georgia by a score of 1-0.

Indians win, Indians win, Indians win (game 1)-Baseball

In dramatic fashion after trailing most of the game, the Indians have defeated the Warriors of Middle Georgia with a late 7th inning walk-off home-run.

The Indians would defeat Middle Georgia by a final score of 4-2.

The Indians trailed Middle Georgia 2-1 until the bottom of the 7th inning 2-1, it was then the Indians put on the rally-caps for a come back.

In the bottom of the 7th the Indians were able to get a runner on first and then Cam Louis laid down a bunt that he beat out for a base hit.

Oliver Santos than came up and drove in the tying run to make the score 2-2.

After Louis was picked off 2nd base, sophomore catcher Eddie Barkley (Sumter, SC) hit a 2-run walk-off home-run to win the game for the Indians.

I don't have the information on the Indians winning pitcher at this time. I am sure assistant coach Jeff Wicker will email the details after game 2.

I should be able to update game 2 the rest of the afternoon thanks to USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball player Michelle Turner as she has been sending detailed texts of the game.

Hello fans and parents,

I started this blog to keep you informed on the happenings within USC Salkehatchie athletics and it has been amazing the response that I have received from parents and fans alike.

It has taken a lot of my time to keep the blog updated as many games finish late at night but to keep the parent that lives so far away and the fan that may live outside our local area in the know, it is all worth it.

It really is a labor of love, I love USC Salkehatchie athletics as I have said so often before. I do this blog because I see the hard work that our athletes put in, not only on game-day but at practices during the week.

I see them attending classes and then rushing to the practice field and then rushing back to another class after practice. I played in college and I understand what it takes to be a student-athlete. I think it was easier back when I went to college but for today's student-athlete, it seems as though they are always rushing.

I know for you, as a parent or fan, you only get to see the finished product on the field during game-days. I have seen these young people grow in the past year and it makes me so proud, I can only imagine how it makes you the parent feel.

I know the blog is sometimes off by a hit, a goal, a run or a basket but our coaches are very busy, many without an assistant but they do a great job getting the information to me as fast as they can.

I can't attend every game both at home or away. I am part-time and to make it to every game would be impossible. I would love to be able to attend every game because the young group of athletes we have at USC Salkehatchie are very special and I would love to be there to cheer them on.

I explained in a previous post but I hope that next year we will be able to do many more exciting things within USC Salkehatchie athletics. If you are a parent from one year ago, you have seen the athletic programs grow by leaps and bounds. It is all due to the hard work of everyone in the athletic department from coaches, our athletic director Mrs. Jane Brewer and our Dean Dr. Ann Carmichael. They all believe in USC Salkehatchie athletics and to me it shows in everything that have transpired within the department this past year.

I couldn't ask for a better group of parents, the ones that take the time to email me, I thank you for all your kind words. If I have left your child off the blog or the website, I am sorry and I can assure you it was not done on purpose. I try my best to take photo's of every student-athlete and have them on the website or blog at least once throughout their season.

On the website, we offer a player profile each week, if you do the math it isn't hard to figure out that we don't have enough weeks in a season to profile every player. I will continue the player profile even after the season is over in order to try and get everyone on the website at least one time.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I know sometimes mistakes are made, I am only human. If you have any suggestions or complaints, please feel free to email me.

I would love to hear from each and every parent that has a concern about the blog or website. I want you to know if you are upset about something, feel free to email me, it takes a lot to upset me.

If your child is a sophomore, I wish them the very best at the next level, I will keep fans at USC Salkehatchie updated on their progress as they move on to another institution and I hope that you will remain a fan of USC Salkehatchie.

If you are a parent of a player that is returning to USC Salkehatchie next season or an incoming freshman's parent, you will be pleased with the additions that will be made within the sports information department. I hope to have some very exciting news within the next several months.

So, as we wrap up the seasons, enjoy the games, enjoy your children and have fun! The athletic department can't thank you enough for being a part of the USC Salkehatchie athletic family!

Indians baseball set for double-header with Middle Georgia today at 3

The Indians baseball team is getting ready to get back on track against Middle Georgia this afternoon in Allendale, SC. The Indians went into this weekend's series with Spartanburg Methodist with a 5-game winning streak but now the Indians have lost thier last 3 out of 4.

Middle Georgia won 19-20 games midway through the season but in their last 7 games, they are 1-6.

The Indians and Warriors met back on March 24th at Middle Georgia and the Indians dropped both games in the double-header 8-4 in game 1 and 9-5 in game 2.

In game 1 of that series Dustin Pannell had a home-run for the Indians and Oliver Santos went 2-4. Thomas Nichols took the loss for the Indians on the mound.

In game 2, Cam Louis went 2-3 and had a home-run. On the mound, Ryan Rowe threw
5.1 innings, gave up 9 hits, 8-runs, 8-earned, 4-walks and 3-strike-outs.

Today's starting pitchers have not been announced by the Indians coaching staff.

USC Indians baseball team looks to get back on track against Middle Georgia tomorrow!

The USC Salkehatchie Indians baseball team will look to get back on track tomorrow against Middle Georgia after dropping 3 of 4 against Spartanburg Methodist. The Indians had won 5-straight before this weekend's series.

The Indians are set to play Middle Georgia in Allendale, SC with the first pitch coming at 3:00 pm in a double-header. This game against Middle Georgia is a non-Region X match-up.

The Indians are 17-18 overall and 11-9 in Region X play.

Just a reminder about USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball

Hello Lady Indian softball fans!

I just wanted to remind you that Tuesday's double-header that was scheduled against Benedict College in Allendale, SC has been cancelled.

The games will not be made up as they were non-region games. NCAA-Benedict College had to use Tuesday's date to make-up one of their conference games that was rained out earlier in the season.

However, don't forget the Lady Indians will be at home on Wednesday against USC Sumter in a double-header, the first pitch is scheduled for 1pm.

Indians fall to #2 Spartanburg Methodist College in game 4

The Indians fell 14-0 in game 4 against the #2 Division team in the nation as ranked by the NJCAA.

The Indians lost the series 3 games to 1.

The Indians now fall to 17-18 overall and 11-9 in Region X play.

#2 Spartanburg Methodist overall record is now 32-4 and 15-3 in Region X.

Lady Indians will look to rebound against USC Sumter on April 8th in Allendale, SC

The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team will look to rebound after a disappointing last couple of performance's against Aiken Technical College and Spartanburg Methodist both Region X opponents.

The Lady Indians dropped two on Friday against Aiken Tech in Aiken, SC and then turned around and lost two more against Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, SC.

The Lady Indians have to be excited about being back at home for it's two games against USC Sumter. The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Fire Ants twice earlier this season in Sumter, SC.

The Lady Indians are now 13-18 on the season and 4-6 in Region X play.

The exciting thing about Region X is the fact, you could be the regular season champion but unless you win the Region X tournament, you will sit at home once the national tournament starts.

The Lady Indians will travel to Hartsville, SC May 1-3 for the Region X tournament. If they can win the Region X tournament, they would advance to Colorado for the National NJCAA Division tournament.

In last season's Region X tournament, the Lady Indians finished in 3rd place, one game shy of the Region X Championship game.

I just got a report from our athletic director Mrs. Jane Brewer and she reports that the Indians are trailing the Pioneers 3-0 in the top of the 4th in game 2.

She has assured me she will keep me updated throughout the game and I will keep you informed.

Indians win game 1 (Sunday)-against #2 Ranked (NJCAA) Spartanburg Methodist College

The Indians have defeated the #2 team in the country as ranked by the NJCAA, in game one today.

The Indians relied on a great pitching performance (complete game) by freshman Griffin Spires 3-2 (West Columbia, SC) to hold the Pioneers to 1-run.

Leading the Indians:

Oliver Santos (San Domingo, DR) hit his 7th home-run of the season and Pat Cassidy (Lexington, SC) had a double and RBI and Dylan Hightower (Cayce, SC) had a double and an RBI.

The Final score was USC Salkehatchie 3, Spartanburg Methodist 1

The Indians are now 17-17 and 11-8 in Region X.

Game 2 is set to get underway at any moment. If I get any in-game updates I will post them to the blog so check back often, if not I will post the final score to the blog.

I am also in hopes that USC Salkehatchie assistant coach Jeff Wicker will pass along some information on both games for the blog as soon as game 2 is completed.

Indians preparing to face Spartanburg Methodist for games 3 and 4 in 4-game series

The USC Salkehatchie Indians men's baseball team is preparing to face #2 Spartanburg Methodist for games 3 and 4 of their scheduled 4-game series today.

The first pitch for game 1 is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

The Indians will look to avenge yesterday's sweep by the Pioneers.

Today freshman Griffin Spires 2-2 (West Columbia, SC) is slated to get the start in game 1 and in game 2 sophomore Braylon Emory (North Augusta, SC) is expected to start.

The Indians will be looking to improve on their 17-16 overall record and their 10-8 Region X record.

Going into this weekend's series the Indians are only 3-games back out of first place.

Lady Indians drop 2nd game against Spartanburg Methodist College

The Lady Indians lost for the second time today against Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The Lady Indians keep game 1 close, sending it into extra-innings (9).

In game two, the Lady Indians were unable to get the bats going and in the end they lost by a final score of 7-0.

The Lady Indians now fall to 13-18 and 4-6 in Region X play.

The Indians again fell to the #2 team in the NJCAA by a final score of 10-5.

The Indians allowed 6-runs in the top of the 3rd inning and that was the difference in the game.

Sophomore Ali Williams (Sumter, SC) took the loss for the Indians, he is 4-4 on the season.

Sophomore Oliver Santos (Santo Domingo, D.R.) hit his 6th home-run of the season.

Freshman Griffin Spires 2-2 (West Columbia) will get the start in game 1 tomorrow, sophomore Braylon Emory 1-2 (North Augusta, SC) is set for game 2.

The Lady Indians played a close one against Spartanburg Methodist in Spartanburg, SC today forcing the game into extra-innings.

The Lady Indians fell by a final score of 4-3 in 9-innings.

Indians baseball fall in game one to #2 team in NJCAA-Spartanburg Methodist

The Indians baseball team has fallen to #2 ranked (NJCAA) Spartanburg Methodist by a final score 4-2, in game one of a scheduled double-header.

On the mound for the Indians today was sophomore Mark Henderson 3-4 (North Charleston, SC), he threw a complete game 7.0 innings, giving up 7-hits, 4 runs-all earned and 5-strikeouts.

For the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers freshman-Jimmy Revan (Chesnee, SC) now 7-1 on the season went 6.1 innings, giving up 2-runs both earned and 1-walk with 9-strike-outs.

Sophomore Patrick Mincey (Hartsville, SC) came in for relief of Revan and threw 0.2 innings, facing only 2-batters.

Freshman-Carlos Santana (Santo Domingo, D.R.) 2-3, 2-RBI's

Sophomore-Randolph Brown ( Seabrook, SC) 2-3

Lady Indians fall in game 2 to Aiken Technical College

The Lady Indians fell again in game 2 against Aiken Technical College by a final score of 6-2.

The Lady Indians will try and get back on track tomorrow against Spartanburg Methodist in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Lady Indians head into tomorrow's action with a 13-16 overall record and 4-4 in Region X play.

The Lady Indians have fallen to Region X foe, Aiken Technical College on Aiken, South Carolina.

The final score was Aiken Tech 5, USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians 2.

Symone Nettles (Lamar,SC) had a home-run, her 4th of the season.

The Lady Indians are getting ready to start game 2 of a scheduled double-header. The game was scheduled to be played yesterday but because of the inclement weather in our area, it was postponed until today.

I am sitting at the University of South Carolina watching their baseball team take on Arkansas. The score here is USC Gamecocks 1, Arkansas 0 as they get ready to start the top of the 3rd.

Indians getting last practice in before weekend's games against #2 Spartanburg Methodist

The USC Salkehatchie men's baseball team is preparing for the #2 team in the NJCAA Division 1 just like the would against any other team in the nation. If you recall the Indians played Walters State at the time, the #1 team in the Nation according to Baseball America.

The Indians have been on fire as of late, winning their last 5-games in a row.

The games this weekend are expected to be some of the most exciting of the season, don't forget that tomorrow's game 1 will be broadcast on WDOG 93.5 and over the internet for anyone that can't make it to the game.

Lady Indians getting ready to travel to Aiken, South Carolina to take on Region X foe-Aiken Technical College.

*NOTICE: THIS GAME WAS RESCHEDULED FOR 4-6PM. It is now rescheduled for 5pm and 7pm to let the field dry.

The Lady Indians will finally be back in action this afternoon in Aiken, South Carolina against Region X rival-Aiken Technical College.

The Lady Indians have had their last 5-games cancelled because of severe weather in our area. The game today was supposed to have been played yesterday but because of the showers in the Aiken area, it was moved to today at 5 pm and 7 pm (Double-Header).

The Lady Indians have a full slate for the weekend with today's double-header, two games scheduled for Saturday against Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

After that the Lady Indians won't be back in action until April 8th against USC Sumter at home in Allendale, South Carolina.

The April 7th game against Benedict College has been cancelled because they have had to use that date as a make-up date within their conference.

So, let's go Lady Indians! If you get the chance travel to Aiken and cheer the Lady Indians on to victory!!!

Indians baseball game VS #2 ranked Spartanburg Methodist to be broadcast this Saturday, Air-Time 12:45

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team will host the #2 NJCAA Division 1 team in the country and Region X rival Spartanburg Methodist this Saturday and Sunday in a pair of double-headers.

The Indians game one will be broadcast on WDOG 93.5 locally and over the internet at http://www.bigdogradio.com/

I will be broadcasting the game along with WDOG owner Carl Gooding. According to WDOG air-time for Saturday's game is scheduled for 12:45 pm.

Indians baseball improves to 18-14 with win over Limestone College JV today!

USC Salkehatchie head coach Bubba Dorman said last week, "A win is a win!"

He said that after the Indians had won both games of a double header against Limestone College JV and then on Sunday the Indians defeated USC Lancaster in a double-header. The Saturday's double-header with USC Lancaster was rained out. I am sure after today's win, he was more than thrilled with his team and it's play in the past 5-games.

Today in one 9-inning game, the Indians were victorious 14-6.

The Indians are now on a 5-game winning streak and just in time as they take on the #2 ranked team by the NJCAA and Region X foe, Spartanburg Methodist this Saturday and Sunday in a pair of double-headers.

In today's game against Limestone College, every member of the USC Salkehatchie baseball team that traveled to Gaffney, South Carolina was able to play in the game.

USC Salkehatchie baseball game still on for today against Limestone JV

I just spoke with the Sports Information Director for Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina and she said the weather is fine in Gaffney. She said that it was cloudy but they didn't expect any rain until late in the afternoon.

Still waiting on word from USC Salkehatchie baseball, whether game is a go or no-go!

I have been waiting to hear from either USC Salkehatchie baseball head Coach Bubba Dorman or assistant Jeff Wicker on today's game against Limestone College JV. If you look at the weather map on the right hand side of the page, it looks as the weather is in the lower half of South Carolina. The upstate looks fine, so Coach Dorman may get lucky once again and get a game in today!

Today's Lady Indians softball games against Aiken Technical College scheduled for 4-6pm has been rescheduled for tomorrow Friday April 3rd.

Again-Today's game has been CANCELLED-It has been RESCHEDULED for tomorrow at 4-6 pm.

Weather not looking favorable for Indians baseball as they prepare to travel to Gaffney, SC to take on Limestone JV

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team is prepared to travel to Limestone College, in Gaffney, South Carolina but again it looks as though the weather may not cooperate. I will keep you posted on the game and if it is cancelled in advance, please be sure to check the blog often for an update.

Lady Indians travel to Aiken to take on Region X foe (THURSDAY), Aiken Tech

As the Lady Indians sit at 4-2 in Region X play, tomorrow's game with Aiken Technical College could be one of the most important series of the season.

The Lady Indians have an overall record of 13-14 overall and 4-2 in Region X play.

Coach Mitch Smith said, "We will need to play our A-game tomorrow against Aiken Tech, I know they will be ready to play once we come to town. I have explained to my girls the rest of the season is up to them. Once you get this far into a season it is up to the girls to make the plays on the field and understand that they are the ones playing the game. I have been very pleased with all of their hard work throughout the season and I have never had a better group of young ladies since I have been at USC Salkehatchie. I look for the rest of the season to be exciting, it should come down to the wire as we get closer to the Region X tournament."

The Lady Indians will play Aiken Technical College in Aiken, South Carolina. The games are set to start at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Once we get updates from the games, I will post them to the blog.

Once again it looks as though the weather could play a factor in whether or not the Lady Indians will get to play, according to Coach Smith the Lady Indians will make up the game on Friday if it is rained out.
