USC Salkehatchie Men's basketball team in Florida for Tallahassee Community College-Holiday Classic

The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team will be back in action tonight at 6 pm in Florida. The Indians are participating in the Tallahassee Community College-" Holiday Classic" tonight and tomorrow.

Tonight, the Indians will face Shelton State Community College from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Last season, Shelton State advanced to the national Junior College tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. This season they are 9-2 and ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

The Indians have struggled early this season with a record of 2-9 but head coach Travis Garrett said he can see the future getting brighter for his Indians, "We have been struggling but I know that things will be better after the break. I have always scheduled the toughest teams early in the season, it helps your team get focused."

The Indians have played six teams that were ranked in the top twenty this season and three teams that were just outside the top twenty.

They will face the host team, Tallahassee Community College tomorrow with tip-off scheduled for 5 pm.

The Indians next game is on January 9th and 10th in Wentworth, North Carolina at the Rockingham Classic.

They will be back at home on January 14th against Aiken Tech to start a 4-game home stand.

Once I get the scores from tonight's match-up, I will post the final score to the blog, please check back often.
