USC Salkehatchie men drop exhibition match to USC Aiken 6-1

The USC Salkehatchie men's soccer team traveled to Aiken, South Carolina today to face NCAA Division 1, USC Aiken.

The two teams played three 30-minute periods with the Pacers taking an early 3-0 lead in the first period. Sophomore Justin Barlotta (Summerville, S.C.) scored the opening goal in the game before fellow sophomore Brett Van Pelt (Aiken, S.C.) notched another goal a few minutes later to place the Pacers on top early, 2-0.


A few minutes later, Watson (Kingston, Jamaica) secured his first goal of the match on a penalty kick.


USC Salkehatchie would score the inaugural goal of the second 30-minute period when Nash Brace (Beaufort, SC) scored to cut the contest to 3-1 in the Pacers' favor.


It would not take long before the Pacers would react with Zachary Davis (Ocala, Fla.) scoring on a blast from about 30 yards out into the bottom left corner of the net.USC Aiken would net two more in the final period to set the final tally at 6-1. Newcomer Josuha Pierce (Spring Hill, Fla.) placed the first goal in the period for USC Aiken before Watson scored his second of the match.


Today's match was an exhibition and does not count towards the Indians season record.


The men's soccer team will start the regular season on August 28th against Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia at 3:00 pm.
