Indians take another one, improve to 6-1 with win over Davidson Community College today in Region X bash.
The
Indians improved to 6-1 on the season with a 97-92 victory over
Davidson Community College in the Region X bash held in Raleigh, NC.
Davidson CC came into today's game with a 5-0 record and had averaged
123-points per game.
"I knew coming into going the game we
would to have to slow them down to be able to compete. We came out and
did that in the first half but slipped going down the stretch, we have
to listen better and understand you aren't the winner until the final
buzzer," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.
The
Indians came out today and jumped in front early, leading 46-36 at the
half. In the second half, the Indians increased their lead to 72-60 with a
little over 9-minutes left. However, Davidson CC started to break down
the Indians defense, pulling within three points with 20-seconds left.
The Indians would hold on for a 97-92 victory.
Coach Travis Garrett added," I am happy we won, it is always good when
you get the W. I will say we have to go back to the drawing board with
some issues and continue to work hard and grow as a team. I will tell
everyone, this is a special group, something is different about them but
they have to understand that winners continue to work hard everyday. We
can't let a win over #1 ranked Central Florida and a record of 6-1 be
the whole season. We set a goal to get back to the NJCAA tournament and
with hard work, this team is very capable of doing that."
The Indians will be back in action November 29th against Central Georgia Tech and again on November 30th against Albany Tech.
