Indians drop pair over weekend in GPC Thanksgiving Classic

The USC Salkehatchie men’s basketball team traveled to Decatur, Georgia over the weekend with high hopes of picking up their first win of the season but it wasn’t to be.

The Indians were playing in the annual ATC Thanksgiving classic located on the campus of Georgia Perimeter College. In their first game of the tournament, they were paired against the hosting team. In the early goings, the Indians jumped out to an 11-points lead but as the first half came to a close, they saw their lead diminish.

“I have to find a way to get our players to understand that to be successful; you have to play a complete game. I don’t know what I am going to have to do, to get it through some of the player’s heads but I am working on it, said Coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians lead at the half, 37-31.

In the second half, rebounds would dome the Indians. Coach Garrett said, “ We didn’t box out in the second half. I knew that we were going to have to step it up in the second half on the boards but the guys didn’t listen. If you are going to win games, you have to bang the boards.”
