Indians make it 10-In a Row with 76-71 victory over Clinton Jr. College, improve to 3-0 in Region X


The USC Salkehatchie Indians men's basketball team improved to 11-10 on the season and 3-0 in Region X play, as the defeated Clinton Jr. College 76-71. The win tonight was the Indians tenth in a row after starting the season, 1-10.


In the first half the Indians trailed early and often, finally getting their first lead of the night with 11:11 left in the half, 14-13. They would find themselves down by as many as ten points with 4:28 remaining but would narrow the gap to four to end the half, 40-36.


"We came out fast in the first half, I was impressed that we were focused and ready to play early on. I think we lost focus mid-way through the first half but we were able to regain our composure and fight back," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.


USC Salkehatchie sophomore Donald Simms would lead the Indians in scoring for the first half with 12-points.


In the second half, it would be all Indians as they finally tied the game with 17:47 (41-41) and would regain the lead shortly after 45-43. The Indians would not trail again throughout the second half. Freshman Raston Brown would sink a 3-pointer with 11:24 to give the Indians their largest lead of the contest (59-49) The Indians would go on to win the contest, 76-71.
