Indians Vs. Southern Wesleyan Exhibition Match Recap

The Salkehatchie Indians Men’s Soccer Team fell 6-0 to the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors last Wednesday in their first exhibition match 2008. The Warriors out shot the Indians 22-5 and earned seven corner kicks as opposed to none for the Indians. The scrimmage took place at the Southern Wesleyan University soccer field in Central, South Carolina Still the Indians felt pretty good about their first time playing together as not one single Indians player had ever played college soccer prior to Wednesday. “I expected things to be rough,” according to Salk Head Soccer Coach Bill Glass, “Southern Wesleyan is a four year college and plays in one of the toughest conferences of the NAIA.” Despite the final score, the loyal contingent of fans who followed the team up north all agreed that the Indians seemed to play better and better as the match continued. “They demonstrated the ability to maintain their intensity under adversity, make adjustments and thus improve throughout the match,” said Glass “a different team walked off the pitch at the end than walked on it to start off and so the trip was well worth it,” said Glass.
