The Salkehatchie women’s soccer team prevailed over Georgia Military College onThursday by a score of 3-1.
It was a hard fought defensive battle with the score 0-0 atthe half but GMC volleyed home a cross early in the second half and that opened the gameup. “We changed to a more offensive minded formation and line-up immediately after theyscored and it did not take long to pull back to even,” according to Salk Soccer Coach Bill Glass.
Nicole Fluker scored two goals in the win and Tearra Green put the game on ice when she foundnet in the late going. Zaf Papanikitas minded the net for Salk giving up just one goal in 90 minutes.
This was a sweet win for the Salkehatchie women as they lost 4-3 to GMC less then a week a goso the team wanted to make up for that loss. “It was a total team effort,” said Glass,“they all played hard plus played smart - tactically it was our best outing so far this year.”The ladies play Spartanburg Methodist in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday at 1 PM.
