USC Salkehatchie sophomore basketball player Gabe Mathis signs with Southern Poly Technical University

USC Salkehatchie sophomore Gabe Mathis signed with Southern Poly Technical University this morning.

Gabe will join USC Salkehatchie teammates Roy Hampton and Deandre Blackmon both who signed last week with Southern Poly Technical University.

Last season Gabe saw action in 29-games last season for the Indians and averaged 3.4 pts per game.

"Gabe is a very hard worker and will be a great addition for Southern Poly Tech. He has been working on his game since arriving at USC Salkehatchie and even though he didn't score a lot of points he was big for our team. I know in the right system he will blossom and I think Southern Poly Tech is that right system," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

Gabe becomes the third Indians sophomore to move on to a 4-year school this year. USC Salkehatchie sophomore Brandon Riley who was named the Region X player of the year and was named to the NJCAA All-American team, will make his decision next Wednesday. According to USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett he has narrowed his choices down to three schools.
