Indians forward to Southland




The Indians of USC-Salkehatchie in Walterboro, SC now has its second player going onto the division one ranks for next season.




JucoJunction.com has the latest on this player in this article. "Mari Konate will sign with the McNeese State University Cowboys for next season" said Indians Head Coach Travis Garrett. "Mari really liked the idea of the uptempo style of play that McNeese State plays." McNeese State is plays in the Southland Conference and is located in Lake Charles, LA. Konate a combo forward started his career at Sheridan College in Wyoming back in 2007-2008.

Konate a native of France averaged 4.2 ppg and 4.4 rebounds this season while shooting 53% from the floor. He now joins teammate Brandon Riley (South Carolina State) in signing with a division one school for next season. "Mari was really forced to play out of position this season for us. He can really defend multiple positions on the floor and is great in transition" said Garrett. North Carolina Central and Alabama A&M also showed strong interest in Konate this spring according to Garrett.
