It has been an exciting week around USC Salkehatchie, with the softball and baseball teams in full swing and soccer still steaming full speed ahead. I would have to say that never in the history of USC Salkehatchie has athletics been such an integral part of the school's growth. It is amazing to see the other students interact with athletes and the whole student body feel a part of the university through athletics. As with any school academics come first at USC Salkehatchie but sports have a way of bringing people together.
Of course the larger universities have always felt this way with their football programs but your small institutions have struggled for years with no athletic teams for alumni to keep ties to their former school. I want you to take a moment and think about The University of South Carolina or Clemson University without football programs, basketball programs or baseball programs. I am sure both schools would still thrive with the higher academic standards both have but would the alumni support they both enjoy still be there? I am excited about the USC Salkehatchie booster program, our program is a way for both former athletes and former alumni to give back to a school that helped them on their way to success.
Since my arrival at USC Salkehatchie, so many people have come up to me to share their experience while at the institution. I can see in their eyes the excitement they have for USC Salkehatchie, many telling me that if there had not been a USC Salkehatchie, they wouldn't have succeeded as they have. I hope that you will come back and visit us for a game over the next few months. We are getting ready to tip-off the basketball season soon and baseball and softball will soon follow in January.
I want to thank you for your continued support of USC Salkehatchie athletics and if you get a moment, go to http://www.uscsalkathletics.com/ and check out our booster club at USC Salkehatchie.
