Happy New Year from the USC Salkehatchie Athletic Department~

The University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie athletic department would like to wish you and yours a very Happy New Year.

2009 was an exciting year for USC Salkehatchie athletics, we saw our men's basketball program win the first Region X title in school history. This year our men's and women's soccer teams both qualified for the Region X tournament for the first time and both broke the previous record for wins in a season.

The USC Salkehatchie baseball team improved by leaps and bounds under the guidance of head coach Bubba Dorman. We had a player (Oliver Santos) drafted in the April MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds.

The USC Salkehatchie Lady Indians softball team broke the school record for wins in a season and did well in the Region X tournament.
We had numerous players move on to 4-year institutions to continue their playing career.

We improved our USC Salkehatchie athletic website this year to help you the fan stay more informed and we will work harder in 2010 to make it even better.

The USC Salkehatchie athletic blog you are reading right now has been improved to keep you up to date on scores and happenings within the athletic department. We are now on Twitter and Facebook to help keep fans connected.

I have to take a moment of your time to thank the coaches for all their tireless work all year to make USC Salkehatchie athletics what the have become today.

Dawn Rizer for all her hard work in making sure the USC Salkehatchie athletic website is keep up each week and Mrs. Marian Easterlin for keeping the fans full at all the baseball, softball and soccer games.

Our athletic director Mrs. Jane Brewer has shown great leadership since taking over the athletic department. The winning teams and the family atmosphere at USC Salkehatchie is a testament to all her hard work and devotion to the university.

And lastly, I want to thank you the fans for always supporting USC Salkehatchie. I have said this before but without our loyal fans, it would be hard to exist. It is you the fans that come out and support our teams, donate to the programs and volunteer when called upon to do so.

I am looking forward to 2010 and everything it may bring, I know that our athletic department can only get better with our loyal fans, great coaches, athletic administration and Dean Ann Carmichael.
