Indians season ends on sour note as they fall to Brunswick CC at Region X tournament

The 2009-2010 USC Salkehatchie Indians season can only be described as a tale of two seasons. In the first half, the Indians played as though the sky was the limit by knocking of Cape Fear CC and Brunswick CC back to back on the road. As the season progressed the Indians season began to fall apart. Down the stretch the Indians lost every Region X regular season game in February, the last win coming on January 31st.

USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett, "Tonight's game went like our season went, we had our chances but was unable to execute. It hurts, it really hurts. I just want the guys to succeed not only on the court but in life, I been in this game long enough to know the longer you play the more chances you get to move on to the next level."
In the first half the Indians had their chances but neither team was able to pull away. The Indians held the lead as the first half came to an end, 35-31.

The Indians were 13-28 from the field in the first half and 8-10 from the line in the first half.
The Dolphins were 13-23 from the field and 3-6 from the line.

In the second half, the Indians came out stone cold hitting only one of their first eight shots from the field.
Brunswick CC with a bounce in their step took the lead with 12:45, 58-56.
Throughout the half, they went back and forth and with 1:09 left the Indians pulled within two points.
With 9.1 left, the Indians pulled within one point but after fouling to stop the clock, Brunswick went back up by three.
The Indians had one last chance after Darnell Jackson took the inbound pass and found Brandon Riley open for what appeared to be the game tying shot.

He was unable to get a shot off as time expired.
The Indians fell by a final of 88-85.

In the second half, the Indians were 26-43 from the field and 8-8 from the line.

"It was an adventure this season, we are losing some great players to graduation and they will be hard to replace. I know that we will get some great young player coming in and the guys that will remain need to work hard. If I have learned anything over the years, players come and go but the game remains the same. If you want to build a winning program, you have to work hard," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.
