USC Salkehatchie Indians split with Pitt Community College in North Carolina


The USC Salkehatchie Indians softball team traveled to Greenville, North Carolina today to face Region X foe Pitt Community College.


Freshman Leigh Hite took the mound for game 1 and 3 runs later, she and the Indians improved to 5-0 in Region X play with a 3-2 victory.



In game 2 freshman Samatha Martin got the call from Coach Mitch Smith to start the game. She went three innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned. Freshman Amber Hiers came in relief for Martin in the third and went the rest of the way, giving up no runs.


After today's split, the Indians are now 11-13 overall and 5-1 in Region X play.


The Indians will be back in action tomorrow against Louisburg College in Louisburg, North Carolina. The will match up for a double header, the first pitch of game 1 is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
