The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team extended it's winning streak to eight games Saturday afternoon in Jamestown, North Carolina.
The Indians jumped out to an early 10-point lead 31-21 against Guilford Technical College Saturday afternoon. The early lead was in-part due to Bryant Julious and his his first half performance in which he scored 12-points.
It looked as though the Indians were in serious trouble mid-way through the first half when Guilford Tech. went on a 16-7 run. When the buzzer finally went off to signal the end of the first half, Coach Travis Garrett was relived, "I knew that we were capable of beating Guilford Tech but their speed was unbelievable. I had seen them on tape and knew they were fast but when you see it in person, it was unreal. I told my guys during half-time that now was the time to show everyone what Indians basketball was all about and they responded."
The score at half-time was USC Salkehatchie 38, Guilford Tech 37.
Coach Garrett had to be concerned was the second half began and his team allowed Guilford Tech to go on a 6-0 lead and take their first lead of the game, 43-38. The Indians responded by tying the game 43-43.
It was at that point 6'8 243 lb sophomore, Larry Cox took over for the Indians with an explosive 16-points to close out the Indians victory.
The final score was USC Salkehatchie 88, Guilford Technical College 78.

The Indians are now 10-11 over-all and 6-1 in Region X.
