USC Salkehatchie Indians- CO-Champions of Region X, first Region X tournament game set

It's official, the USC Salkehatchie Indians basketball team became CO-Champions with Brunswick Community College for the Region X regular season title. The Indians did what the needed to do to become co-champions of Region X. They knew that they would need to win their final two games and have Brunswick Community College to lose one of their games over the weekend to become the outright Region X champions.

"I knew that we had to win if we wanted to win the Region X regular season championship outright. We did what we had to do on our end and Brunswick Community College did what they needed to do and I take my hat off to those guys. I am just looking forward to the Region X tournament and we are going work hard this weekend, prepare hard and focus on winning games once we get to the tournament," said USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett.

The Indians and Brunswick Community College both finished the regular season with the same Region X record but the Indians will have the #2 seed going into the tournament.

So, on Thursday March 5th, the Indians will face Denmark Technical College at 4:00 pm as they begin their march to become the Region X tournament champions.

The Indians and the Panthers of Denmark Technical College met twice during the regular season. In their first match-up in Walterboro, South Carolina, the Indians won by a final score of 97-83.

In their second match-up in Denmark, South Carolina the Indians again defeated the Panthers, 73-64.

Leading the Indians in their second match-up:
Larry Cox 23-points
Brandon Riley 18-points

Travis Wilkins 5-points

Bryant Julious 4-points

Javon Woodberry 4-points

Once we get closer to the Region X tournament in Shallotte, North Carolina, I will post directions and I will also let fans know what games we will be broadcasting "LIVE" over the Internet for fans that can't make the action.

On behalf of the USC Salkehatchie athletic department and all the fans that have followed the Indians, we would like to congratulate USC Salkehatchie head coach Travis Garrett and his team on a fine job in the regular season, NOW Let's Finish The Job!!
