USC Salkehatchie "Lady Indians" drop two on Saturday

One day after dropping two to one team out of Georgia, the Lady Indians again found themselves on the losing end of their double-header with Middle Georgia .

"I was pleased with the way we played today, I know we have some work but overall I was pleased. We are young, we have been starting four or five freshman in each game but that can only make your team better come Region play," said Coach Mitch Smith.

In game one the Lady Indians lead going into the third inning after Stacee Whittle hit a three-run home-run.

In the top of the third, Middle Georgia went back ahead after they got a two-run home-run of their own, to give them a 4-3 lead.

The Lady Indians were unable to get any offense the remainder of the game and the final score was Middle Georgia 10, USC Salkehatchie 3.

Cea Knox took the loss for the Lady Indians, she is now 0-2 on the young season.

In game two, the Lady Indians went with Katie Henderson on the mound.

The Lady Indians trailed Middle Georgia throughout the game, but they were never out of it.

Several times throughout the game, they would leave runners in scoring position. In the sixth, they had bases loaded with one-out but they were unable to bring them in.

In the seventh and final inning, the Lady Indians had one final chance as Alyssa Chambers lead off the inning with a double. Symone Nettles then can up and drove in Chambers from second to make the score 5-2. The Lady Indians would get another run on, to make it runners on first and second but they were again unable to capitalize.

Coach Mitch Smith said," We did some thing right today and we did some things wrong, overall I am very pleased with how we progressed from yesterday. We just have to get more aggressive but that will come with game experience, I am pleased with our overall performance.

The final score was Middle Georgia 5, USC Salkehatchie 2.
